Antares Nebula

Amid the continuing spring storms, the sky cleared up for a few hours one Saturday night/Sunday morning. I went to the Dominey Observatory to visit a friend and do some imaging with the Dwarf 3.

The image below is a small portion of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex surrounding the star Antares, which is the brightest star in the constellation Scorpius. The image also features two globular clusters.

Antares Region
Antares (α Scorpii) is the bright star on the left. Globular cluster Messier 4 is on the right. The small globular cluster above center is NGC 6144.

This image is a combination of 640 15-second exposures at a gain of 60, totaling 2 hours and 40 minutes of integration time. It was stacked and processed in Siril, with some additional processing in Photoshop.

My plan is to image more parts of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex over the summer, weather permitting.
