Milky Way at Lindsay Ranch

My wife and I recently visited the Lindsay Ranch Guesthouses near Mason, Texas. The sky there is Bortle 2, and the weather and elevation are generally good for astronomy. The first night we were there the sky cleared up nicely and the Milky Way looked spectacular! I didn’t bring my telescopes or DSLRs, but I managed to get these images using my Samsung Galaxy S10+ camera in Pro mode. The only alterations that I made to the original images was apply some noise reduction and to resize them.

I definitely want to come back to this spot one day with all of my equipment. This location is next to the Mason Mountain Manor, a cabin that has all of the amenities of home. My only complaint is the blinking lights of a cell tower a few miles away. The good news, though, is that despite being nearly two miles from the nearest road, this site has excellent AT&T mobile service!
