Messier 17 – The Omega Nebula

Messier 17, also called the Omega Nebula and the Swan Nebula, is located about 5,500 light years away in the Sagittarius constellation. It is close to the Lagoon Nebula and the Trifid Nebula in the sky. The nebula glows from the light of a cluster of young stars at its core.

Messier 17 is one of my favorite nebulae. Every time I take a picture of it, I see something new.
