Caldwell 27 – Crescent Nebula Redo!

I wasn’t happy with how my Crescent Nebula image turned out. I really thought that the Dwarf 3 could do better at bringing out the details. While exploring one of the Dwarf 2/3 Facebook groups, I found where another Dwarf 3 owner had gotten results that were in line with my expectations. So, I decided to try his settings.

Here is a redo of the image. This one was compiled from 724 15-second exposures with a gain of 120 using the Duo Band filter. The filter choice was particularly important because it helps accentuate the Hydrogen-alpha emissions in the region. I also reframed it a bit to highlight the surrounding nebulosity. I think it turned out a lot better than my previous attempt!
